Chris Counihan

Hello and welcome!

My name is Chris and I'm interested in International Development & Education, particularly exploring pedagogical interventions that mutually grow with the desires of developing economies.

I'm currently researching the effects of peer-mediated reading pedagogies in rural areas of India. It mainly focuses on these questions- how can early reading education reach the unreachable, i.e. those in rural areas? Can skilled & talented children teach their peers? Ultimately, what impact does this have on Education for All? I'm sure you would agree it's a lot to think about...

Thankfully, I'm not alone. In fact I work with some of the most inspiring and creative minds on earth, most of these are children from India and Africa, but there are others, namely the people who share my aspirations and headaches at Newcastle University, UK. Somehow they manage to keep my feet firmly on the ground.
