Chris Curtis Crawford

Web Developer, Consultant, and Public Speaker in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Chris Curtis is a veteran in the internet business community, and a well-respected subject matter expert who educates small business owners and entrepreneurs about using the internet as a foundation to present their products, services, and themselves, to a global audience. Her methodology takes audiences “beyond the pretty pages”, and challenges individuals to develop business ideas based on what they already know, while reinforcing the importance of incorporating technology to bring those ideas to fruition.

A teenage mentee of Ben Franklin Technology Center’s Chief Technology Officer, Jerry W. Smith, she learned the foundations of computer networking and the Windows’ operating system. BFTC helped to forge her skills for managing technology projects, and facilitated an early exposure to business development, entrepreneur resources and - the Internet.

Now, Chris can often be found in magazines, business publications, and web sites around the globe sharing her views on topics involving web business and internet entrepreneurship. She’s been featured in Black Enterprise, and quoted on Forbes.com, MSN Money, and The Street, as well as a host of local and national radio networks and business-focused web sites.

A radio personality in the 5th largest media market in the nation from 2006-2014, Chris integrated learning as well as listening, and put tech newcomers at ease about taking the plunge into digital life. Her newest project is a TV mini-series, "MicroNation", a show that explores the connected communities we live in and how the good, bad and ugly of technology impacts our daily lives.
