Chris is a founding member of CSI Energy Group – and a philanthropist, entrepreneur and investor in people. He started his career in the early 1990s as an apprentice in the UK electrical contracting industry, gaining hands-on project delivery experience.

Chris first visited Africa in 1995 to oversee engineering projects in Tanzania. Over the next 12 years he worked regularly on the continent, before deciding to relocate permanently in 2007 to establish CSI Electrical.

He worked as a Senior Project Manager for international investment banking institutions in the United Kingdom from 2002 to 2007. These roles involved delivering corporate office and data facilities across Europe. During this time Chris identified an opportunity to develop an electrical contracting business in East Africa focused on - above all things - international quality and safety standards.

CSI Electrical was formed in 2007 to deliver on this vision. Under Chris’s leadership, the company has grown rapidly from a small start up to being recognised as one of Tanzania’s most reliable contracting organisations today. CSI Electrical continues to expand, delivering landmark projects for multinational clients in the power, extractive and construction industries - and supporting the electrification of some of Tanzania’s most isolated regions.

In 2015, Chris founded CSI Energy Group (CEG) to offer world-class construction, engineering and electrical expertise to clients across the wider sub-Saharan region.

Chris’s visionary direction has led to CEG now having 10 established offices across the continent, from Nigeria to South Africa to Kenya. CEG continues to expand in both expertise and capacity through a skillful combination of acquisitions and mergers. The group delivers complex infrastructure projects that provide better access to energy, improving lives throughout sub-Saharan Africa.

Chris launched the CEG Foundation in 2017 – a charitable institution that supports vulnerable African children and young people in Africa. The Foundation is committed to delivering infrastructure that enables economic growth and social wellbeing.
