Chris Freeman

England, UK

I am Chris and I'm 18 years old from England. From what part I cannot really say as I was born on Victoria Peak, a mountain over looking Central Hong Kong, an area popular with British expats. At the time my father was working for HSBC. .I have little to no memory of my time spent in Hong Kong, but I doubt I had the greatest time, in out of hospital as I was, the smaller one of twins. My family moved back to England before Hong Kong was handed back to China in 1997, and I spent early years growing up in Leeds, before Dad's work took us abroad, this time to Dubai. I studied at an english school and learned some arabic, which I'm ashamed to say I've forgotten. The cultural exposure at that age is something I believe has helped me to grow as a person, and has also given me fond memories. For example I remember vividly often shielding my drink of juice from the police during Ramadan. I don't know why I remember that. Since returning to England I've been making way through school, achieving highly at GCSE and AS. Being an honoury scholar at Sherborne School is something I'm very proud of.

I hope to achieve highly at A levels and go onto study geography at university. I enjoy geography for the simple reason that it deals with ever pressing social, economic and environmental issues in the modern ,ever changing world. I hope to use this to become apart of an NGO or Charity or work in Humanitarian Aid. It will also hopefully my dreams to travel, such as Africa and Latin America.

Those who know me, probably see me as reserved but hopefully polite and sensitive. Understanding my sensitivity has helped me to understand greater who I am. I like to think I can be quite humorous although I'm sure many might contest that idea. I'm a violinist (kinda) and this has been an enjoyable hobby since I was 9/10. I have been lucky enough to perform in London and Venice and hopefully Rome this summer! Sport has been a massive passion, with football for my early childhood being often the only thing that mattered, however cricket has impacted the most having played at school, club and district level( failed to pass county trials haha) and now even coaching. Volunteering and Charity work including mentoring those who suffer from bullying and depression has defined the recent years of my life which have been hindered by depression.

Most recently poetry has become something very important as I have become to understand the powers of expression it offers a
