Chris La Mendola
For more than 20 years, physician and cardiothoracic surgeon Dr. Chris La Mendola has been immersed in the field of heart surgery, and he has performed a wide range of procedures on patients throughout the greater New York metropolitan area since 1994. As an Attending Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgeon at Long Island’s St. Francis Hospital and Heart Center, Dr. La Mendola invests his work with an unwavering commitment to patient care and excellence in the medical practice. Recognized for his expertise in all facets of cardiothoracic surgery, Dr. La Mendola treats patients through minimally invasive techniques in aortic valve replacement, mitral valve repair, and aortic aneurysm repair. As a result of his impeccable performance, Dr. La Mendola has earned accolades from a variety of media venues, including Newsday and New York Magazine, which named him One of Long Island’s Top Doctors and One of the Best Doctors in New York respectively. A Fellow of both the American College of Surgeons (ACS) and the American College of Cardiology (ACC), Dr. Chris La Mendola holds additional memberships in The Society of Thoracic Surgeons, the Medical Society of the State of New York, and the Nassau County Medical Society. Prior to joining the team at St. Francis Hospital and Heart Center, Dr. Chris La Mendola spent nine years in a range of capacities at New York University (NYU) Langone Medical Center. During this period, Dr. La Mendola completed a high degree of training in cardiothoracic surgery, provided supervision for the Level 1 trauma center at Bellevue Hospital Center, and served as Executive Chief Resident in General Surgery, among other accomplishments. A graduate of both the Stony Brook University Medical Center and the University of Michigan, Dr. Chris La Mendola holds an MD and a Bachelor of Science in Biology from these institutions respectively. Dr. La Mendola resides on Long Island.
