Chris Graham
Sudbury
I am the program leader of Mathematics at Lockerby Composite School, in Sudbury, Ontario. I have been teacher for 10 years, at Lockerby for 9 years, and program leader for five. I typically teach Grade 10 Academic, Grade 9 Applied, and Grade 12 Calculus classes, and my current courseload is 10 Applied, 12 Advanced Functions, and a Grade 10 History course just to mix things up!
It is my feeling that is no such thing as being 'bad at math', this is all about perception. If students are open minded and willing to think about math as a progressive concept, then everyone can see some success in the subject. It is my hope to help students recognize their growth mindset and become more fluent in their learning.
I am taking this specialist, on Technology in the Classroom, to enhance the abilities I already have with technology and to broaden my scope on technologies I have not yet experienced. Technology is incredibly important, so providing exposure to students can do nothing but benefit them. As well, I am taking this course to network with other like-minded individuals who can share resources and conversations with me about technology in the classroom.
