Christal Thomas

My name is Christal Thomas. I am an enthusiastic, dedicated, organized young woman with a passion for teaching. In 2008, I graduated from Huston-Tillotson University with a Bachelor of Arts degree. I majored in special education with a teach license major in language arts. I currently hold a license to teach special education K-5 and I am working on becoming certified in K-12.

From a young age, I have loved working with children, which is why I aspire to become a special education teacher. My interest in teaching special education students spans back to childhood. My cousin James was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and seeing him grow up, I witnessed what children need to succeed not only in the classroom but also in life. In high school I volunteered to work at the local elementary school where I helped a kindergarten class everyday after school. Throughout college, I had multiple placements in general education classrooms and special education classrooms. My life experiences have helped to shape me as an educator to make me stronger in the classroom for my students.

Huston-Tillotson has prepared me to be the best teacher that I can be. I am excited to continue my career and create differentiated strategies for students' unique needs.
