Christa Niven

Active with the National Association of the Education of Young Children, Christa Niven leads A Journey School in Lynnwood, Washington, as director and head of school. A Journey School emphasizes natural play and prepares organically sourced foods. With a belief that “education begins at birth,” the school provides students ample opportunity for hands-on play and skill development. Christa Niven directs the teaching team and engages closely with families and the broader community. She seeks to provide students with diverse modes of expression, including music, painting, dramatic play, and writing.

Ms. Niven completed her bachelor’s degree in child psychology magna cum laude at the University of Minnesota. She is presently working toward a master’s in divinity with a nonprofit management focus at Corban University. Her past experience includes a position with Veritas Academy in Austin, Texas, as assistant to the head of school. In this capacity, Christa Niven engaged with engineers, architects, and attorneys in developing a new early-stage campus.
