Despite his consistent growth as a recording artist and freelance journalist, Christian Bonoan considers himself a consumer of hip-hop culture before a contributor.
The 22-year-old wordsmith is currently the Digital Content Editor for Chris Brown Entertainment's x Complex Media's MechanicalDummy, where he is responsible for maintaining the website's Young Genius perspective, training and supervising Editorial Interns, and writing/editing 100 short-form fashion/music/art/feature stories a week. He takes pride in providing a politic-free platform that breaks new artists and brands, while also creating digital content that inspires fellow up and coming creative minds.
Previously, Bonoan served as an Editorial Intern extraordinaire for XXL Magazine from December 2011 to December 2012. With no prior experience before joining hip-hop's premier print publication, Christian was able to quickly learn the journalism craft leading to penning over 100 digital stories published on XXLMag.com. He also proudly boasts a print feature story interviewing Ryan Leslie for the magazine's limited Sony/Best Buy Issue and his own masthead quote in XXL’s July/August 2012 Issue. Also, Bonoan frequently covered and represented XXL at events, played a pivotal role in launching XXL Web Candy and XXL Good Life, and helped manage social media accounts (Twitter/Instagram/Tumblr.)
In addition to digital media and journalism, Christian's true passion is making music. Under the moniker, Chise, he is in the midst of completing his debut album: "Almost There VOLUME ONE: Visions x Vices x Vulnerabilities." The rapper also has co-production and songwriting credits under his resume, in addition to advising local acts in regards to public relations, branding, and digital strategies.
Aside from hip-hop, Christian is a basketball afcionado who dreams of attending a New York Knicks championship parade in the near future.
