Christian Jil Benitez is a scholar from the Philippines. He obtained his AB-MA in Filipino Literature from the Department of Filipino, Ateneo de Manila University, where he currently teaches literature and rhetoric. He is a member of the interdisciplinary research network Rethinking the Order of Time; and the Film Desk of Young Critics Circle, where he served as its chairperson for the filmic year 2019. Hailed as Poet of the Year 2018 by the Commission on the Filipino Language, his critical and creative works in both English and FIlipino primarily move around the Philippine notion of time, panahon, as intuited through the tropical, the poetic, and the new material.

He currently serves as the associate editor of the journal Katipunan, published by the Department of Filipino, ADMU; and the director of the Ateneo National Writers Workshop, under the Ateneo Institute of Literary Arts and Practices. He is working on manuscripts on new materialism and planetarity; the tropicality of trauma; and a Filipino translation of José Garcia Villa's poetry. His first book, Isang Dalumat ng Panahon, is forthcoming from the Ateneo de Manila University Press.
