Christiane Leitinger
Christiane Leitinger, M.ed., is an international service-learning specialist.
She has worked with diverse cultural and economic populations in the
United States as an early childhood education teacher. From 2005 to 2011
she built the award-winning Pennies for Peace tool for both students and
educators. Christiane currently consults to nonprofit organizations
interested in adding an outreach and service-learning component to their
program. These international projects reflect Christiane’s belief that
service-learning, tied to core literature and academic rigor, results in
powerful, transformative learning opportunities for students and adults.
In addition to the Pennies for Peace Toolkit, Christiane was Executive
Producer of a 2009 call-to-service concert event – Journey of Hope –
at legendary music venue Red Rocks. She graduated from Grinnell College
with a Bachelor of Arts degree in German Literature, and earned a
Master’s Degree in Education, with a specialty in Montessori, from
Loyola College in Maryland.
