Christian Fuchs is a multimedia producer, writer, photographer and designer for print and the web.
Currently, Christian Fuchs is Marketing and Communications Manager for Apollo Video Technology in Bothell, Wash., just north of Seattle.
Prior to moving to Washington, Christian lived in Washington, D.C. and served as the first Communications Director of Jesuit Refugee Service/USA. Christian wrote stories and created photographs and videos for JRS/USA and other JRS Regions, and maintained the JRS/USA website and social media sites. It wasn't all online, though, as print products such as Annual Reports and The Refugee Voice were written, designed and edited by Christian as well.
Christian joined Jesuit Refugee Service/USA in Oct. 2008 after working as Deputy Director of Photography and then Director of Multimedia at The Washington Times. In 2008, Christian was part of a team at the paper that was awarded one of journalism's most most prestigious awards — the Society of Professional Journalists' Public Service Award — for its investigative series "Disposable Heroes." The series disclosed the unethical treatment of war veterans during a VA medical experiment. Christian previously held positions as photo editor and staff photographer at newspapers in D.C., Virginia, Texas and Florida.
A U.S. Navy veteran, Christian trained with other service members at the Defense Information Scool in print and broadcast journalism, and then worked as a television producer, director and videographer on the islands of Crete and Diego Garcia, where he was named News Director. His next assignment took him to Tokyo, where he worked as a copy editor and section editor at Pacific Stars & Stripes for several months, before becoming a staff photographer at the newspaper and being recognized with
