Christian Griffin

My name is Christian Griffin, born and raised in Harlem, by way of Englewood, New Jersey. I was raised by my mother Lisa Griffin along with my grandmother. My mother who worked long hours was always able to provide for me. My grandmother retired from Columbian Presbyterian Hospital where she worked as a nurse until her retirement. My grandmother found solace in taking care of me and my sister while my mother worked. Growing up as the oldest sibling alongside my sister, I had a great childhood. My family is a close knit family and we all get along well! As a child I went to St. Charles Borromeo catholic school located in Harlem. I continued my education when I moved to New Jersey and graduated from Dwight Morrow High school. My family made sure I gained a good education, and had instilled in me that it was a requirement especially for me growing up as a young African American male.

As a young boy, I always loved to listen to music. My mom always told me whenever I cried she would put on a little Kenny G, and the sounds of his saxophone would put me to sleep. I guess this would explain the reason I love music today. I find music not only soothes my soul it also intrigues me. I love making beats and putting music together. My mother always supported my efforts which include putting together a small studio in our garage, music is my passion! Music is second to my daughter Mya, born on Valentine's Day February 14, 2005. Mya short for Jamaya she is my world. When I see her she lights up my life and gives me hope and strength to work hard. As a father you want to make sure you establish a career to make sure your child is taken care of. However, in between my music career I soon got off track straying a little, I found myself in trouble with the law. This was the wakeup call I desperately needed, as it was all the right and wrong things I was told about time after time by my family, and then it had become a reality. However, I never looked at it as a deterrent but rather a way for me to get on the right track. I am now enrolled in college and looking forward to a career in either business or music or both. Life is so short and the time we have on this earth is not determined by us as individuals, but rather our creator. I try to live life righteous and live to set an example for my daughter. I hope to continue to have a great outlook on life and live life to the fullest.
