Christian Winthrop

Christian Winthrop is a fifth-generation Newport, Rhode Island native, media entrepreneur, and former national political campaign consultant. He is the founder and editor of Newport Buzz and Palm Beach Buzz, two fast-growing digital news platforms serving engaged audiences across New England and South Florida.

Winthrop began his career in national politics in 1998, working on multiple congressional, U.S. Senate, and presidential campaigns. Over more than a decade, he served in senior roles including campaign manager, deputy campaign manager, finance director, and political writer, gaining firsthand experience in government, public affairs, and strategic communications.

In 2008, he transitioned into media and entertainment, joining Hearst Corporation in New York City as an entertainment producer. There, he worked on national television commercials and documentary projects before returning to his hometown in 2011 to launch Newport Buzz. The site quickly grew into the most-read digital news source in Newport County, known for its breaking news, civic reporting, and lifestyle coverage.

Building on that success, Winthrop expanded to South Florida with the launch of Palm Beach Buzz, bringing the same hyper-local, community-first journalism model to Palm Beach County. Today, both platforms are recognized for strong digital engagement, trusted local reporting, and modern media strategy.
