My name is Christie, I am a Surgical Technology Instructor in Phoenix, AZ. I have always loved dogs, but until I began fostering pitties 3 years ago, I knew next to nothing about Pit Bulls, except those horror stories that were posted all over the web. It all began when when my best friend, Kelly started AZ Pits needing homes.Kelly grew up on a ranch and training dogs and horses was second nature for her. She and my first foster, Harmony, taught me that Pit Bulls are actually super smart, loyal, loving and goofy. The soulful look in her eyes drew me right in the first time I saw her at the shelter. She was terrified of everything at first, it was obvious that she had learned to survive on the streets and protect herself by avoiding people. But with love, patience and the help of my Sharpei mix, Athena, she slowly began to trust us. It took Kelly less than two hours to train Harmony (and me) to heel and walk on a leash. Taking Harmony for walks opened doors of such excitement, it was incredible to see this little girl blossom before our eyes. If I could learn to foster these wonderful but strong willed dogs, anyone can. The rewards are incredible! Harmony was what we call a foster fail....because we ended up adopting her. Harmony is pictured here on my home page from the first time I saw her at the shelter, with those pitifully soulful eyes, to the famous pittie smile that adds so much joy to our lives every single day.
