Christina Gordon

Frostburg State University

My name is Christina Gordon. I am from Sykesville, Maryland and grew up on a dairy farm. I am very close to my family; my sister and I are best friends. We have a dog, Patch, who is a Jack Russell Terrier. He keeps us all entertained. I love being outdoors: running, riding, snowboarding, jet skiing, etc.

However, for the past three years, I have worked at a daycare in a two-year old classroom. It has been a great experience. Being able to build relationships with children that impact their growth and learning is everything to me. I was always so happy to see them. This summer I was a lead teacher in the classroom, and I worked with an aide. Therefore, it was my job to inform parents of upcoming events, their child's behavior, progress, etc. Using knowledge gained from my classes at Frostburg, I was able to communicate with parents comfortably and implement my professionalism. It was heart-warming when parents told me that I could refer to them as references in future applications. I hope to become a stronger leader in the teaching field. I want to be confident in my abilities and knowledge to connect with parents, advisors, mentors, colleagues, and students effectively. In the future, I would like to do a couple things. I would like to teach close to home in Howard, Carroll, or Frederick County or teach on army bases.
