Christina Gunlock

My home state is Texas

I am a senior photojournalism student at the University of North Texas. An outdoors woman, writer & photographer from a young age, I began documenting my life with my parents & five younger siblings in Mulberry Bottom by the Red River.
By the time I graduated from high school & the Fannin County 4-H program, I knew I was called to photojournalism. This passion was confirmed during a photojournalism semester project, The Horse Doctor. I followed an equine veterinarian, shooting photos & recording audio, before compiling a finished Soundslides project.
My second love, writing, was encouraged by my mother, Kaye, even before I could write. Mom would write down my stories for me & have me draw a picture to go with them. While getting my associates degree in journalism, I wrote for Paris Junior College’s student publication, The Bat. For a year before I graduated, I was The Bat’s editor. Recently, at UNT I wrote an article for DentonLive Magazine about the Texas Storytelling Festival.
As graduation nears, I look forward to recording the stories around me & shooting photos & videos wherever life takes me, including the Mojave desert, where I will live once I marry my fiancé, a U.S. Marine.
