Arlington Heights, IL

Education:

I am a second year student in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences double-majoring in Political Science and Communication, a member of the James Scholar Honors Program, and am graduating a year early, in May of 2015. I aspire to one day become a Broadcast Journalist.

Skills:

I have strong communication, professional, and leadership skills. As an articulate, effective communicator, both in large group and small group settings, I am mature, well-organized, punctual, and always proudly present myself in a professional manner. Above all, I am a “team player” that knows when to lead and when to listen. I avidly embrace new tasks and take direction well.

Leadership Experience:

As the Captain of University of Illinois' Congressional Debate Team, I create practice schedules, assign and conduct computer database-aligned research assignments, and teach the art of debate to team members. Additionally, I have won five collegiate awards for my performance in and management of my chamber(s).

In addition to my role as Debate Captain, I am the research coordinator for Illinois' debate team. I thoroughly compile research from online databases and newspapers for the University of Illinois Congressional Debate Team members to rely on for speech giving at our tournaments. Research topics require extensive research on a wide array of topics from public welfare to international relations.

Over my summer and academic winter breaks, I work part-time as receptionist at National Industrial Coatings ("Nicoat.") I uphold the company’s cornerstone policy- “Listen, Lead, Deliver”- through answering dozens of daily calls, taking thorough messages, and familiarizing myself with the company’s products/policies to answer customer questions.

In my free time, I enjoy volunteering. In 2006, I designed and founded “Books for Babies---Passing on the Passion,” as an initiative to promote reading to children from birth. From the program's inception until 2012, I raised money to purchase a myriad of children’s literature to present to over 300 first-time mothers at Lutheran General Hospital and North Arlington Pediatrics.
