I'm a scientific, technical, and medical (STM) editor and writer, a job that is both challenging and rewarding. My father likes to refer to me as "half a doctor." While I possess nowhere near that knowledge base, I've read thousands of clinical articles over my career, so I'd like to think I've picked up a thing or two.

Thus far, I've had the opportunity to oversee numerous peer-reviewed clinical journals and healthcare technology magazines, including Surgical Rounds, Cardiology Review, and Oncology Net Guide. I'm currently the editorial director of Annals of Long-Term Care: Clinical Care and Aging and Clinical Geriatrics, both of which target healthcare professionals caring for older adults, including long-term care residents. Because elder care is an area that desperately requires attention, working on these journals makes me feel like I'm helping out on that front in some small way.

I've always had an interest in fitness, nutrition, and technology, and I've coauthored several books on these topics, including Cancer Nutrition & Recipes For Dummies; Wii Fitness For Dummies; My Xbox: Xbox 360, Kinect, and Xbox Live; and My PlayStation Vita. Although book writing is stressful work, particularly when you're also balancing family life and working full-time, it's rewarding holding the fruits of your labor in your hands.

My most recent professional venture is to develop a medical writing course, which is still in progress. Although medical writing was never on my radar, I feel extremely fortunate to have stumbled into it.

It may sound like all I do is work, but I do try to enjoy myself as well. I love spending quality time with my husband and adorable little girls, experimenting in the kitchen, traveling, and watching mindless movies.
