Christine Reed
Fontana, California
Hi There! I'm Christine Reed. I am currently employed with the Etiwanda School District as a 2nd grade teacher and site level technology coordinator. I started at Grapeland Elementary in 3rd grade, was there for 2 years and then when Perdew Elementary was opened, I moved there, where I still am. I taught 3rd grade for four years, then moved to 1st for 2 years and then up to 2nd. This will be my 11th year teaching and my 5th year in 2nd grade. I absolutely love 2nd graders and the curriculum. I am also in my 2nd year as a site-level technology coordinator and instructor. I am out of my classroom once a week to lead students and staff in instructional technology lessons.
I graduated from Cal Poly Pomona with my Bachelor's in Liberal Studies and Multiple Subject teaching credential in 2005 and went straight into the classroom. I then went back for my Masters in 2007 through Point Loma Nazarene University and studied Educational Leadership and Administration. Originally I thought I wanted to move into administration but I've had a change of heart and now want to move towards a technology coach or leader.
I have been the GATE coordinator for my school, in charge of our school choir, run an after school academic all-stars intensive intervention program, been a BTSA support provider and now I am in charge of Instructional Technology. I attended the CUE conference in Palm Springs, CA this past March and absolutely fell in love with all things technology. I completed my Leading Edge Certification through CUE last summer as a Digital Educator.
I believe that all students should access to technology and that it should be integrated into all aspects of the classroom and learning. Technology is the way of the future and at the fingertips of every student. With our guidance, as educators, we should take them down a safe path using technology as a tool to their learning.
