As a young black female I have experienced feeling marginalized within a classroom and as a result felt disengaged and unmotivated. Given my experiences, I know the importance of ensuring that environments are conducive to optimizing learning for all students. As a teaching I would contribute to TDSB’s mission of teaching to each and every student despite the student diversities. Working with children in an array of different environments, from coordinating summer camps to supporting children with special needs, have all come together to solidify my passion for children and my vocation to become a teacher.

My teaching experiences and the completion of multiple academic child study programs, including a Masters of Child Study Degree, have instilled in me a holistic and in-depth knowledge of child development. As an Early Childhood Educator, I created effective program plans based on children’s needs and interests, this ability translated into my lessons as a teacher candidate where I included accommodations for ELLs and children with special needs.
