She's been watching the play of light and shadow since grade school. After several years of tinkering with cameras and processing prints in a basement dark room, Christine attended the Art Institute of Pittsburgh earning an Associate's Degree in Photography. She has been a photographer in the Mid-Atlantic area ever since, establishing Armstrong Studio in 1988. In 2007 the studio migrated to a small farm in northern Maryland where an existing barn was up-cycled and a green studio was born.

Her drive to promote FairTrade and sustainability began in the mid 90s after a SERRV catalog turned up in the mail. The mission of FairTrade hit home. She began work on the first of many catalogs for them, targeting the "New Cultural Creatives" community. Armstrong Studio was set on a future course ripe for Cause Marketing and the Social Entrepreneur. In the years since she has collaborated very closely with some of the most respected leaders in the Fair Trade world, including Ten Thousand Villages, Equal Exchange, Upavim Crafts, Manos Zapotecas, Liz Alig, Connected in Hope, Amanos Artisans, Shea Radiance, Sustainable Threads, Bambeco and Catholic Relief Services. Providing images for Fair Trade and Good-for-the-World brands is the top priority.

Mindful of the struggle many solopreneurs face establishing their brands, Christine works closely with them on budgets and image strategy, often promoting their products through her own social media. Her primary focus is product photography including personal care, textiles, giftware, home decor, hardware and fashion accessories for all manner of digital markets. To convey authenticity, sets often utilize natural light, establishing a realistic sense of place. Large scale projects, using technical lighting are also a major aspect of the work flow.

Christine brings her creative innovation to all the work she touches with a clean, clear style that focuses attention on the product and calms the clutter. Her green-living lifestyle and eco-conscious studio influence images in ways that are at times very obvious, but often just as subliminal. Clients see hints of found objects, organic elements, seasonal flora, handcrafted papers and recycled surfaces throughout her work which lends a unique flavor to every image. With decades of shooting and styling experience, an expert eye for detail and a drive to shoot later and ask questions first, making the client's goals her own is instinctive.
