Christine Jay, soprano, is currently a sophomore dual degree student at the Oberlin College and Conservatory pursuing Vocal Performance and Italian translation. She has performed in solo, recital, and choral settings at numerous summer institutes and programs including the Boston Conservatory’s summer vocal intensive program, Sherill Milnes’ Generation X Vocal Arts Festival, and was a young artist at the Boston University Tanglewood Institute. This summer, Jay attended Oberlin in Italy singing the role of La Musica from Monteverdi’s L’Orfeo, and participated in the Savannah VOICExperience Festival lead by Sherill Milnes.
An avid choral musician, Jay sang in the Massachusetts All-State Chorus her freshman and senior years of high school. Also a student of the New England Conservatory’s preparatory division, Jay was a featured soloist in
Mozart’s Vesperae solennes de Confessore with the NEC Youth Chorale in Jordan Hall.
While at Oberlin, Jay sang in New York City with the Oberlin College Choir at Brick Church under the direction of Jason Harris in Oberlin’s recent January NYC 2013 Illumination Tour.
Jay is a student of Kendra Colton.
