Teacher, Artist, and Student in Vancouver

Hire me

I am a teacher, artist, and student currently living in Vancouver. I have strong interests in any form of arts, and just started exploring pottery and paper cutting. I am also interested in cycling, hiking, and reading.

My teaching experience is quite varied. I started as an ESL and FSL teacher at the elementary level in Quebec in 2010. I taught all grades and was also a home room grade 6 Intensive English teacher for a year. In Vancouver, I have been teaching French immersion Kindergarten for almost 5 years now.

This year, I have experimented with inquiry based learning, and was amazed at the effect it had on my students motivation and engagement. I am hoping to develop my practice as an inquiry based teacher further, as I feel I am currently very much in the trial and error zone.

This year has been particularly challenging, with various needs in my class, a pandemic and moving into a brand new unfinished school building. This year has demanded energy and time that was already very limited, and surely taught me to set boundaries in order to maintain a healthy body and mind. I have enjoyed exploring and building a mindfulness practice for myself and my students.

The avatar I chose is a picture of me teaching online at home with my wonderful cat George, who kept interrupting lessons, to the joy of my students. :)
