I live my life in constant knowledge that there are only two kinds of people in the world - the once born and the twice born. With that absolute, life becomes a serious thing. Today the church has created a hybrid christian that discerns no difference between an abject sin-filled sinner and a repentant believer and calls them both christian. One can sit in church next to an unrepentant, unremorseful person (who seeks a white-washed Jesus Christ) and expects to be called "disciple". Being twice born, I acknowledge that I am different. The world can sense my difference, the "hybrid christians" can sense I am different and the "brethren" can sense I am the same. When I am in the presence of a once born, I can discern their lack. My words (and the scripture also) are gibberish. They can try to fake understanding but their spiritual ignorance "outs" them. Do I hate them? Am I a hater? Never! Instead my heart grieves for them. In such bondage, such delusion, the once born's live through the intellect, body and emotions and a misguided spirit (if indeed, their spirit is alive at all). To watch adults murder children's spirits, after their own has been killed off is a horror beyond words and that makes life a serious thing.
Today, post modernist thinking tries to do good but fall short as a livable philosophy. Just like the hippies of the 60's who just wanted to promote peace and love as a philosophy but were led astray by the sins of sex, drugs and rock n' roll. Post modernism shouts diversity, freedom of choice and no judgment. And just like the hippie movement, it too will loose to the sins of the day. And that makes life a serious thing...
Christian theology is a fun, fun pursuit! Debates with philosophers, fellow Christians, atheists, once borns and theologians is always my idea of a good time. I recognize that it is a more intellectual exerise than a spiritual experience but it is always fun to talk about God.
I engage in prayer usually as thanksgiving but do pray when needed or asked in intercession. I believe talking to God is prayer and I do alot of that! And that also make life a serious thing.
