Christine Tutt
Vancouver, BC, Canada
Hi,
I'm Christine Tutt, lover of making all types of records accessible. Libraries, Archives, Records departments, File Rooms, that is where you will find me.
In my spare time you will find me playing Escalation, sewing myself a new top or walking my dog.
I have finally found my bliss. After career councelling, research and study I am a Library Tech!! In my life I have been; a Fashion Designer, trained at Kwantlen and owned Siyth Designs; a Clown and Actor, trained under Fran Dowie seen in commercials for Dominos and Godzilla Toys; a Yoga instructor, trained under Penny Allport and YogaFit and taught all over the lower mainland teaching children, adults, and special needs clients; I have worked in many different customer service environments, book stores, clothing boutiques and even helicopter parts sales; and now after career counselling, research and study I have found what I truly love and I feel I am great at. I am now a Library Tech. What is that you might be asking? Well it means that I am qualified to work with all types of records, books, historical documents and files. From cataloguing and accessioning to reference and circulation I am the person who organizes and ensures that all types of media are accessible, protected and preserved. I have had opportunities to work and volunteer in all types of environments, from school libraries to city archives. I enjoyed my time exploring the opportunities available through the public school system such as school libraries. There is nothing more satisfying then showing a child a great book and seeing excitement in their eyes as they turn to the first page, or helping a high school student research their first science paper. I have racked up hundreds of hours in local archives playing with everything from glass slides to Olympic ground plans.
It may have taken me some time and exploration but I feel that I have found my passion and purpose. If you are looking to have your records managed, your media catalogued, your shelves read and organized or you just need some filing done then look no further, Christine Tutt at your service.
