The educational arena has been my main focus since 2001. Working for the University of Northern Arizona as part of the e-Learning unit I developed an understanding for instructional design techniques and effective methods of teaching and learning. I quickly became the go-to person when it came to developing engaging and educational applications that when delivered over the web enriched class content. I parlayed this experience to go work with Wolfsong Informatics developing applications that have become flagship products for Elsevier health sciences. Virtual Clinical Excursions 3.0, Virtual Medical Office, and Virtual Patient Encounters allowed me to work with teams of industry and educational professionals developing interactive CD and web based applications. These products utilized the power of the computer to connect to the student through case based encounters while tracking their progress to report back to instructors. Developing these products, and through the development of new technologies and methods at Wolfsong, I now have a greater understanding of techniques and approaches that can be used to create educational experiences from a variety of fields. Currently I am with the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, helping build their program serving as the Instructional Applications Coordinator. I have created databases to help organize and automate video storage, systems to help better track and manage department time, and a variety of interactive learning objects. I continue to expand and update my knowledge of instructional design principals as to better serve the distance education community.
