Christopher R. Henderson
Sr. Technical Writer in Austin, Texas
When you hear a person say they’re a Technical Writer do you picture some lonely, burnt-out college graduate sitting in the dark corners of a room using text speak and blogging about the new Fallout release (looks amazing btw)? Well, though that may be true for some, most Tech Writers have healthy social lifestyles and do much more than use their creativity to write storyboards for video game companies.
Technical Writers -- such as myself -- are valuable assets to a company regardless of its size. Technical Writers in today’s world carry a suitcase full of experience and skills paramount to the craft. We're seasoned in ambiguity, speak the language of developers and consumers alike. Our roles often blur into other titles or responsibilities, such as Training Specialists. Regardless of the nomenclature, Technical Writers are detail oriented and analytical while remaining open-minded and creative, thinking outside the box to provide clear and concise information while keeping our audiences captivated.
For well into a decade I have worked in the IT and Banking industries wearing the title of Technical Writer or Training Specialist, dedicating my career to applying my eccentric personality and analytical mindset for converting complex information into material more easily digested by others. But writing isn't just a way to pay the bills for me; writing is a passion, a way of life. I'm compelled. Even as I type this bio I'm considering the next short story, review, or chapter to pen.
So, rather you're a startup looking to design captivating material for a specific audience, a Fortune 500 company needing fresh eyes on dusty documents, or even an aspiring novelist needing a ghost writer or researcher, contact me, ask to see some samples, give me a "test" project to better assess my skills.
