Christopher Lomas
Southwell, Nottinghamshire, England
Christopher began his copywriting career at the bottom - writing about effluent treatment and pitch-fibre pipes for Drain Trader Magazine.
"I may have started in the gutter, but I've always been looking at the stars. My piece on the Apollo 11 moon landing is my favourite (it's on my Pinterest page if you'd like to take a look)."
By the time he left Drain Trader, the magazine was being sold all over the world. And Christopher had his sights set on travel too. He spent a year in Japan, writing, teaching and getting by with enough Japanese to be able to say: "This one please," "excuse me" and "hot, isn't it?"
Christopher began working full time as a freelance copywriter on his return to the UK in 2003. He also had a three year stint as Senior Copywriter at a Nottinghamshire copywriting agency, but found he missed freelancing a bit too much.
Since 2011, he's been happily freelancing again, and now runs Clear Comms Copywriting in Nottinghamshire.
"I think copywriting should be clear and accessible. Hence the name Clear Comms. Our job as copywriters is to speak to readers in ways they'll relate and respond to."
Clear Comms is a Plain Language Commission gold medal winner; proof of their dedication to copy that's easy to read.
