I'm the Director of Driver Youth Trust. A small yet ambitious charity working to improve the life chances of young people who have literacy difficulties, such as Special Educational Needs, particularly dyslexia. I lead on the development of Drive for Literacy, a joint project between DYT and Ark Schools, as well as our policy and research output.

My professional interests, whether in research or practice, are all about systems. As an applied psychologist I want to know how structural limitations within organisations, at the moment these are educational, affect learners with SEN and disabled people and prevent them from fully participating in society - economically, socially and politicly. Such an approach encompasses structural, procedural and attitudinal barriers created and maintained by society, as well as the effects of individual impairments.

I am a member of the British Psychological Society and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Art.
