Christopher Turrisi
Associate Scout - Toronto Blue Jays in Long Valley, NJ
I am a Rutgers graduate, and my current role is as an Associate Scout for the Toronto Blue Jays. I scout in the Mid-Atlantic Region reporting to Hall of Fame Area Scout, Tom Burns. To get an idea of some recent pro scouting reports I have done, I have listed a link above for you to see the quality of my reports. I have extensive experience in video, advance scouting, reading reports, writing reports, disseminating information, researching data, and making projections.
Prior to this role with the Blue Jays, I worked for Sports Info Solutions as a Minor League Video Editor for advance scouting. During overnight shifts, I edited video from all Minor League games (Low A-AAA) and properly marked in and out points for pitches and plays utilizing Diamond Logger software, ensuring all the meaningful action was captured to be utilized by SIS clients, including Major League teams, for advance scouting and evaluation purposes. I quickly took on extra games to help the team complete the shifts on time.
Before and during my roles with SIS and the Toronto Blue Jays, I have sought to learn and increase my knowledge over expanding areas of the baseball landscape. The most valuable course I took was at Sports Management Worldwide with their General Manager and Scouting course, taught by Dan Evans, former VP and GM for the Dodgers. This course brought my knowledge of baseball operations to the next level as I began to apply what I have learned into projects, including evaluating players of all levels through scouting and data analytics, roster construction, trade and contract negotiation, and player development methods. This course challenged me to reach out to Baseball Executives to establish relationships and seek mentoring. This is how I've met several mentors whom I speak with regularly. As a result, my scouting reports improved 10-fold and I am very confident in my role and my contribution to the Blue Jays. While Scouting is my peak interest, I’ve maintained a broad skill set so I can contribute to an Organization in any role throughout the Baseball Operations landscape. I am an obsessive learner, highly motivated and driven to work in this industry and be a contributing member of a Major League Baseball organization. I encourage constructive criticism in that it only makes my learning curve that much faster to become highly proficient in my work.
