The road leading me into the field of Education has been long and winding. Growing up, teaching was not a career I considered. After graduating from high school, I attended Bakersfield College and then transferred to California State University Bakersfield, but did not have a passion for any subject in particular. I went into the family printing business, and when it closed down nearly five years ago, I was at a crossroads in life. I devoted my time to caring for my then preschool-aged daughter and building a strong tennis program at East Bakersfield High School, my alma mater.
Special Education Mild/Moderate is a field in which I believe I can find success. I have patience, a proven ability to motivate students, and most importantly, I know I have the tenacity to solve any problem which may arise in my classroom. I firmly believe Special Education students have the ability to achieve greatness just as much as any other students. My classroom will be one where my students not only become better at day to day life skills, but they will learn to think in terms of possibility. I will treat each student with the utmost respect and I will give them the tools to succeed in areas where they, or their parents, may never have thought success was possible.
