Chris Schultz

Topeka, Kansas, United States

I was born and raised in Topeka, Kansas where I graduated from Shawnee Heights High School and attended Washburn University. I earned a B.A. in Theatre with a primary focus in stage management and direction.

In May of 2002, I had a “build it and they will come” dream with a good friend of mine, so of course Field Of Greens restaurant in Downtown Topeka was born and still operates today. It wasn’t long before my family started getting more involved in the company, which was the catalyst that grew our dream to include the opening of The Break Room and The Gourmet Cabaret Dinner Theater.

My excursions and successes in business through the approach of a guy with a theatre degree are the beginnings of how I became branded as an unconventional entrepreneur.

Volunteer work is incredibly important to me, I have served as the President of the Shawnee County Historical Society, the Treasurer of the Mulvane Art Museum and I currently sit on the board of directors for Downtown Topeka Inc. and I am the President of Arts Connect Topeka.

In my spare time, I'm the creator, executive producer and host of TalkAboutTopeka.com, which is a multi-purpose program aired on local television, AM radio and the website. The mission of our show is to promote the positive aspects of our community such as charitable organizations, unique events, outstanding people and “mom & pop” small businesses.

This blog is my personal space to share the good, bad, happy and sad experiences of my life with anyone in the world that wants to view the perspective of an unconventional entrepreneur living in the Midwest. If you like what I have to say, please be sure to find me on Facebook, Twitter and YouTube.

Thanks so much for taking the time to peek in to my world.
