Relaunching Master-Planned Communities in Charleston, South Carolina
With an extensive background in New York finance, Christopher Marc Melton has served as portfolio manager and cofounder of Austin, Texas-based Callegro Investments, LLC, since 2012. Directing research and acquisitions, he identifies master-planned communities that have been dislocated and offer potential for profitable relaunch and revitalization. Christopher Marc Melton is particularly focused on the Hilton Head and South Florida real estate markets.
Through Callegro Investments, Mr. Melton leads the sponsored May River Partners, LP, and Sandhill Crane Partners, LLC, portfolios. With the latter firm, he is focusing on the Tesoro Club, which lies halfway between Miami and Orlando and is easily accessible via Palm Beach Airport. The 900-lot community includes Arnold Palmer and Tom Watson-designed golf courses, and is less than one-fourth developed.
Mr. Melton also guides Any Old Iron, a Nashville clothing company that features British and music-influenced designs. His entrepreneurial activities extend to leading SG Blocks, which offers green, code-engineered shipping container building solutions. He is also a founding partner of the music festival Bestival, which is held annually on the Isle of Wight in the UK.
