Christopher Moxley is an experienced entrepreneur and business leader whose work spans the fashion and apparel industry, corporate financial services, and community impact initiatives. He is the co-owner and founder of several businesses, including the award-winning Charlotte-based lifestyle and apparel brand 704 Shop. In that role, he has led business strategy, retail and wholesale expansion, corporate partnerships, marketing, operations, and business development. Moxley and his partners successfully scaled 704 Shop into a seven-figure business and ultimately executed a successful exit, cementing the company as one of Charlotte’s most recognizable brands.
Moxley has built a reputation for exceptional relationship building and strategic partnerships, successfully cultivating collaborations with organizations including the City of Charlotte, Tepper Sports & Entertainment, Hornets Sports & Entertainment, the PGA Tour, the PGA of America, Quail Hollow Club, Paradies Lagardère, and more. These relationships helped establish the most prominent presence of any local apparel brand inside Charlotte Douglas International Airport and created numerous high-profile retail and licensing opportunities.
In addition to his entrepreneurial work, Chris spent more than two decades in corporate financial services and insurance roles with Fortune-ranked firms. His career included responsibilities in retirement and investment planning, regulatory compliance, complaint resolution, risk management, internal audit and control testing, and data privacy and identity theft compliance. He previously held Series 6 and 63 securities registrations, a North Carolina Life and Health Insurance license with appointments in all 50 states, and a U.S. private sector data privacy certification from the International Association of Privacy Professionals.
A Charlotte native, Moxley earned his bachelor’s degree cum laude with honors in International Business from UNC Charlotte. He previously served on the UNC Charlotte Alumni Board of Directors and currently serves on the UNC Charlotte Foundation Board of Directors. His professional achievements have earned him numerous recognitions, including being featured in Forbes Magazine for entrepreneurship, Pride Magazine’s Men Moving Mountains series, and being named a Charlotte Business Journal “Top 40 Under 40.” He has also received an Excellence in Leadership Award from the UNC Charlotte Black Alumni Chapter and was recognized by the Belk College of Business as a Distinguished Young Alumnus.
Additional honors include being named one of the inaugural 28 Black Charlotteans Shaping Charlotte by Q City Metro, inclusion in Who’s Who in Black Charlotte, and winning the Black Fathers Rock People’s Choice Award. Moxley is also a graduate of the Charlotte Regional Business Alliance’s Emerging Business Leaders program and Scale Up CLT, an initiative that accelerates the growth of minority-owned businesses toward $1 million in revenue.
Beyond business success, Chris is deeply committed to community impact and economic mobility. He previously served as Board Chair of the Charlotte Regional Business Alliance Foundation,a member of the City of Charlotte Business Advisory Committee, and continues to support entrepreneurship through the CLT Alliance's Small Business Committee. He also served on Charlotte Center City Partners’ South End Board Committee, helping guide the vision for one of Charlotte’s fastest-growing districts.
Moxley has also raised more than $118,000 to support two UNC Charlotte scholarships for first-generation college students. The Jaylen C. Moxley Scholarship for Academic Excellence, named after his son, was endowed in 2023, while the 704 Shop Scholarship for Creatives is expected to reach endowment in 2026. In recognition of his support, he received the Founder’s Award from the Greater Steps Scholars Program, honoring individuals who significantly advance educational opportunity through service and philanthropy.
Chris also serves as President of the Charlotte chapter of MALIK Fraternity, Inc., the first intercollegiate fraternity founded on the concept of African Fraternalism, where members work to raise cultural awareness of the African and Latino diaspora and support community service initiatives. He previously served as the fraternity’s National Executive Director and has twice received the organization’s Sigma Award for Community Service & Social Justice, its highest service honor.
A frequent speaker and mentor, Moxley regularly shares insights on entrepreneurship, leadership, and community engagement with organizations including Bank of America, Truist Financial, Ally Financial, Lowe’s Companies, UNC Charlotte, and others.
