Here's what I believe:

Gain an understanding of whats outside your particular profession. Dabbling in adjacent fields can only deepen your understanding and enrich your work.

People who work in IT that proudly proclaim 'working harder' removes the need for process make me very nervous. Taking a gamble rarely gives you the desired outcome.

I believe in taking the time to do something right, the first time. Its important for those who can make change to be aware of the power they have. Issues of risk, impact, communication and requirements are necessary questions, and they're are not going away.
