Toronto. Basketball. Movies.
The three words that define my life.
Hi! I'm Christopher Vo, and I am a fourth-year RTA Media Production student at Ryerson University in Toronto, Canada.
I am a filmmaker, and one of my goals is to explore filmmaking as it relates to Asian representation on screen. I thoroughly enjoy the creativity behind this craft, and the ability to express myself in a visual medium brings me great joy.
I take great inspiration from Bong Joon Ho, one of my favourite directors in cinema today. "Parasite" is a masterpiece, and no one can tell me otherwise!
In December 2019, my short film “MUKJA 먹자”, shot entirely on the smartphone, was the recipient of the Best Film award, as well as the Audience Choice award at the KCCA x TSFF Awards.
Anyone who knows me can tell you I am a die-hard Raptors fan. I mean, how can you not be? This team is the physical manifestation of pride and hard work, and I can only make it my goal to replicate that in my own life.
When I'm not studying for school, I'm constantly finding basketball content to engage in: podcasts, game analyses, post-game interviews, trade rumours, and of course, Twitter wars.
My main focus for the past year has been working on my thesis film, "RIPEN". It's a short film that centers around a unique father-daughter relationship, with an emphasis on the Vietnamese-Canadian community. If you'd like to learn more about this project, please visit this page.
I'm always in the mood to chat, so feel free to connect with me via my social media links below!
Peace,
Christopher Vo
