Christopher Y. Chan serves as General Counsel of JLL Technologies, a division of Jones Lang LaSalle (NYSE: JLL), a Fortune 200 company, where he is a member of the Executive Team and JLL's Global Legal Executive Committee. In this role, he architects the governance frameworks, risk policies, and practical guardrails enabling JLL's responsible and competitive deployment of generative and agentic AI — including overseeing the legal launch of JLL GPT and enterprise AI solutions to over 110,000 employees — while advising senior leadership on corporate strategy, enterprise risk, M&A, and digital transformation.
After a decade based in Singapore, Chris returned to the U.S. having served as JLL's Asia Pacific General Counsel, leading 70+ lawyers across 15 countries through a landmark business line restructuring. Prior to JLL, he was an EVP at Lazada, an Alibaba Group company and one of China's largest technology enterprises, where he drove e-commerce expansion across Southeast Asia and led the cross-border M&A transaction to sell RedMart to the Lazada Group. As founding General Counsel and angel investor in Silicon Valley startup doxIQ, he guided the company to a successful acquisition by Nitro. Earlier in his career, Chris served as the inaugural law clerk to the Hon. Raymond T. Chen, the first Asian Pacific American on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit in over 25 years, and was a patent litigator at Am Law 100 firm Finnegan Henderson.
Chris currently serves as a Director of QuantAlpha.AI. He holds a CIPP/E certification and has been recognized with ACC's Top 10 30-Somethings (2018), Asia Legal Business' S.E. Asia's In-House Lawyer of the Year (2017), and NAPABA's Best Lawyers Under 40 (2015). A Duke University and Case Western Reserve School of Law graduate, Chris is also an offshore sailing captain, rock climbing instructor, Ironman triathlon finisher, and PADI rescue diver.
