Every once in a while, I intentionally take the bus on a three hour ride home to Columbus. My friends worry, telling me it's sketchy and unsafe. Well, their stereotypical points are understandable because people on the bus are usually low class and can't afford a car to drive themselves. However, I am not under that category and still choose to take the bus. Also, it provides me with an opportunity to interact people of different race and social status even if it's just a mere hellos and goodbyes.
The real perk of the ride is looking outside while listening to music. Looking outside as the bus is moving calms me. During those three hours, my mind goes through many unnecessary apprehensions such as chemistry homework, biology exam, the boy I like, the fight I had with my mom, my future, and my life. In spite all, I find peace. I think that's because I arrive into a conclusion: just like the bus swiftly passing adjacent cars, my life will too find its way through, eventually reaching the final destination.
Music plays a vital role too, usually setting the mood. Mainstream party music like Timber by Pitbull featuring Keisha makes me excited. On the otherhand, Thousand years by Christina Perri makes me reserved, and I get to reflect upon my life. Before you know it, three hours have already passed, and my mom is waiting for me outside to pick me up. This is when my personal bubble away from the real world pops. I once again enter reality, trying my best to live up to my fullest potential.
