I am an aspiring author, advocate & sufferer of a little known nerve condition called Complex Regional Pain Syndrome / Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy (CRPS / RSD). I have been suffering from the condition since November 2003 after a slip at work down stairs. This in itself does not sound horrendous, however after this I had many treatments, endless rounds of doctors, consultants and physios. None of which actually worked, causing the doctors to advise that I needed an above knee amputation. However it has not ended there. The condition spread to my other leg in 2014 following a different set of circumstances and that leg has now been amputated above the knee 10 days before Christmas 2014. I am now a bilateral above knee amputee due to this horrid condition; CRPS.
My main aim is to raise awareness for the condition generating more interest and with luck and hope eventually full time research is found in getting a treatment for this terrible, debilitating condition. However it all has to start small and until we can get a charitable status for the condition on it's own, nor can we start to raise more awareness or help change the way the medical profession is educated.
We have now started to raise money to become a UK charity for CRPS, as at the moment there isn't a charity registered for this condition. Our mission is to raise awareness among the public and to improve CRPS education amongst the medical community.
PLEASE help support, raise awareness of this page, our website, other social media and of course the condition, so our dreams of a less-pain future maybe realised. If you are able to make a donation to our organisation - Burning Nights CRPS Support - we would be delighted or if you are able to do a fundraising event please let us know as we have a sponsorship form available on our page for you to download.
