Chuanqi Yang

Mr. Chuanqi YANG is striving for being a passionate and determined pianist. He was born and grew up in Shanghai, P.R.China. He graduated from the Music Middle School Affiliated to Shanghai Conservatory of Music and entered Oberlin Conservatory of Music to continue his study in 2008. His primary studies at Oberlin are with Professor Peter Takacs. He has also coached with Dan SHAO, Franz MO, Robert Shannon, Dokovska Pavlina, Yoheved Kaplinsky, Qinghua Wang and Dishan JIN in his career.
At the age of 6, he gave his debut in Shanghai Concert Hall, arranged by Office of Chinese Oversea Affairs, Shanghai Municipal Government in 1993. In 1997, he became a professional piano major student in the Elementary Music School Affiliated to Shanghai Conservatory of Music, meanwhile he was also honored the first prize in the "New Road" Competition by Shanghai Municipal Arts Education Commission and the third prize in Shanghai Youth "Pearl River" Piano Competition. He has hold recitals in many cities around the country, including Shanghai, Ningbo and Beijing, etc. since 1997. He was invited to "Young Pianist Recital" by Shanghai Concert Hall. During his studies in the Music Middle School Affiliated to Shanghai Conservatory of Music, he scored top in piano performance major for each semester from 2001 to 2007 and graduated with the first rank in 2007. He was also honored the prizes of "Haydn Piano Competition" and "Scarlatti Competition" by Shanghai Conservatory of Music. He also received full scholarships "Niu En De" scholarship from Shanghai Conservatory of Music in 2008.
After he received training at the Music Middle School, he came to Oberlin Conservatory of Music with full scholarship. In 2008 - 2009, he accomplished the first year and second year Jury in performing Schubert Piano Sonata D960 and Prokofiev Piano Sonata no. 7. Later on, he succeeded in performing the entire Brahms Piano Sonata in F minor on his junior recital. On April 21st 2012, he accomplished his senior recital in performing Liszt Dante Sonata, Beethoven Piano Sonata op 101 and Chopin Etude in C major, Op 10 no 1 and Prokofiev Sarcasms Suites. He also played Pictures at an Exhibition and Liszt b minor Sonata in Warner Hall on August 2nd, 2012.
After the Bachelor study and successfully mastered a large sum of solo and chamber works, his current focus is on applying for the graduate school. He will dedicate himself and continue the pursuit of his music dream.
