Pipa Musician with Ding Yi Music Company, which he co-founded in 2007. An expressive and highly versatile performer, Chua has forged a distinguished career as both an award-winning instrumentalist and a dedicated educator. He began his pipa journey at age 14 and has since delivered standout solo performances both in Singapore and internationally, collaborating with notable ensembles and orchestras.

Among his various accolades, Chua won first prize in the Pipa Open Category at the 1998 National Chinese Music Competition. In 2013, he was conferred the National Arts Council Young Artist Award, Singapore’s highest honor for arts practitioners aged 35 and below.

He earned his Bachelor of Music (Honours) from the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts in 2006. In 2013, he pursued further specialized studies at the China Conservatory of Music in Beijing, where he obtained his Master’s degree in 2016. Throughout his journey, he has remained committed to artistic excellence, continually refining his craft through professional dialogue and study with acclaimed masters in the field.

Deeply committed to preserving the legacy of traditional Chinese music, Chua serves as the secretariat of the Singapore Pipa Society. He currently teaches at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA) School of Young Talents and Pipa sectional instructor for various schools, nurturing the next generation of musicians.

蔡友国

现任鼎艺团(Ding Yi Music Company)琵琶演奏员,亦是乐团于2007年成立时的联合创办人之一。2013年,荣获新加坡国家艺术理事会颁发的“青年艺术奖”。目前担任新加坡琵琶学会秘书,并执教于南洋艺术学院(NAFA)天才班,同时担任多所中小学华乐团琵琶声部导师。

蔡氏自中学时期开启琵琶艺术之旅,启蒙于黄锦亮、刘璐及刘燕老师。2006年以优异成绩毕业于南洋艺术学院音乐系,师从刘燕老师。2013年,他远赴北京中国音乐学院深造,攻读研究生课程,拜琵琶演奏家杨靖教授为师,并于2016年获颁硕士学位。

在艺术道路上,蔡氏博采众长,曾获王范地、李景侠、樊薇等名师的悉心指导。近年来,他亦通过与琵琶演奏家杨维老师的艺术交流与研习,不断精进演奏造诣,力求在传统基础上探索更深邃的艺术表达。
