Art Director in England, United Kingdom
Since setting out on my creative journey, in 2008, I have found myself working in a number of different creative capacities. Most of my work is done freelance and my time is split between my workshop, various schools and my laptop.
The work that I produce reflects the interests I have in many areas of creativity and the processes involved. More often than not I am involved in collaborative project with other artist’s designers and maker’s, which feeds my fascination for the processes involved in creating. I am able to adapt my ideas to both a large and small scale realisations, in both 2d and 3d.
In addition to this the fourth dimension interests me and I endeavour to find ways to incorporate the unseen within my work, with the intention of creating work that engages the viewer to think about the work, the meaning behind it, and the connection they make with it in relation to the world around them.
As to the choice of material, I am versatile in the medium I use employing recycled materials, wood, paper and even selotape. However, I do produce a lot of my work on the lathe, solely using wood and laminating techniques. The endless potential for form is what interests me most about using wood, mixed with the beautiful natural formations, in the many varieties of timbers available
Participatory arts are also another big part of my creative journey, assisting people to gain from their creativity in a similar way to what I have. The idea of elitist art is not one that I intend to adhere to, since I believe that everyone is capable of being creative once given the tools and environment with which to create.
Three words that sum up my Artistic Career would be...
Creativity ¦ Inclusion ¦ Environment
