Early Influences

I was in third grade when I won my first writing competition. It was for a Haiku poem, titled Night and Day. My creative side was tucked away as a 'hobby' as I pursued a degree in International Economics. I didn't realize how important that blue ribbon was until I was accepted into a Writers' Program later in life. Now, my instinctive creative side has become my profession. And, that blue ribbon hangs on my office wall.
