About Cynthia:

Cynthia Hughes is a gifted writer with an extensive background in the field of communications, in both the public and private arenas. While she served as a Congressional Intern from UC Davis, her insightful comments on current affairs were published in the Congressional Record. Soon after receiving her Bachelor's Degree at UC Davis, she followed her burgeoning passion for writing and governmental affairs, becoming a "Composer" in the California Governor's Office of Ronald Reagan. There Cynthia was chosen to answer the more challenging constituent correspondence, much of which she crafted for the Governor's signature. Later, she accepted a position in the Research and Information Unit which was responsible for the Governor's speech preparation.

In these roles, Cynthia learned the "art of writing" and its power, not only to educate and inform, but to encourage and inspire. Her skills were further developed when she went on to become a Legislative Aide in the California Assembly and, ultimately, managed District Offices in both the California Assembly and Senate. These jobs required significant writing and editing – of speeches, editorials, press releases and correspondence – work that spanned a wide spectrum of objectives and approaches, and which refined her ability to expertly tailor a message. Freelance writing is also a part of Cynthia's resume and, most recently, she has used her craft in the private sector, overseeing communications in a variety of businesses.
