Cinema Poetica

Cinema Poetica is an online-based platform for film studies and criticism in Indonesia.

Cinema Poetica was founded and run by collective of film writers, researchers, and activists. We focus on the production of knowledge of cinema and its distribution for the general public, as a response to the lack of availability of access to film literature in Indonesia.

Cinema Poetica offers critical perspectives that analyze cinema as part of wider cultural, social, political, and historical struggles. We give special attention to films and cinematic culture often abandoned in many public conversations in Indonesia—classics and contemporary arthouse, short and feature, fiction and documentary.
