Cinnamon Brown
Creative passions flow throughout New York City and from one faucet in Brooklyn, Cinnamon Brown drank sounds and rhythms. Born Amy Nicole Smith- Cinnamon Brown discovered her perfect pitch while auditioning for the Harlem Girls Choir. Effortlessly- she hit every note on the piano confirming her enthusiasm for music was indeed a gift. Continuing her training in music, Cinnamon attended Fiorello H. LaGuardia H.S. for the Performing Arts as a vocal major where she trained in professional techniques including sight singing, breathing and reading music. At LaGuardia she was also classically trained in musical composition in French and Italian. Exposed to many genres of music, Cinnamon fell in love with Soulful House and R & B. Since 2004 she has been developing her own sound and style within the world of Soul House. With her background in gospel and jazz, Cinnamon has developed a fiery funky sound that brings honesty but power. Cinnamon’s music is sprinkled with influences from several greats including Leontyne Price, Chaka Khan, Michael Jackson, Prince, Minnie Ripperton, Karen Clark Sheard, Erykah Badu, Maxwell, Stevie Wonder, Patti Labelle and Jonathan Dunn. She is currently in the process of song selection of her debut album but has put out a single to introduce Cinnamon Brown to the world. he break out hit“Under the Moonlight,” the single showcases her boldly stylized vocals. The single is available on Traxsource and Itunes. The album will be released under Josh Milan’s label- Honeycomb Music. Cinnamon is currently working on projects with Josh Milan (formerly of the group Blaze), Marcus Fugate (PhoenixLeDiva Productions), Mark Stone (UDM Show Records UK) Alex Millet (Underground Collective) and writer Dewey Andrews. Cinnamon is also awaiting the release of several singles soon to burn up the charts. Cinnamon has been a featured background vocalist on Rain by Charolette Small a song written by the legendary Barbara Tucker. Cinnamon’s performance credits include the famous Apollo Theater in Harlem NY, the Winter Music Conference 2011/12 and Taj II (NY, NY). She was listed as best live performance at WMC 12. Cinnamon can often be found lending her talents at the famed Sugar Bar (NY,NY) on Thursdays nights.
