I am an 8th grade English and US history teacher. I have been teaching at Stone Valley since 2003. I grew up in Oregon and attended the University of Oregon. And if you've ever been in my classroom you might notice that I continue to be a HUGE Oregon Ducks fan. GO DUCKS! I graduated with a degree in Political Science and a minor in History. When I entered college, I was certain I was going to be an attorney, but after working for one for a period of time, I decided that profession was not for me! Teaching runs in my family. My aunt and uncle retired from teaching after being in the profession for over 40 years, and my cousin is also a teacher in Southern California. My great grandmother was a schoolteacher in a one-room schoolhouse in Oklahoma in the early 1900s. So I decided I would stick with the family tradition and enter the teaching profession. And they say teaching isn't genetic. I attended St. Mary's in Moraga for my teaching credential. Outside of school, I have a variety of interests. My family has two toy fox terriers named Rudy and Lily that I absolutely adore. I'm a total "history dork" too. I love watching the History Channel, Ken Burns' documentaries, and I have been researching my family genealogy (family history) since I was 15. I'll probably forever be known at Stone Valley as that teacher that has all the lines to Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory memorized! What can I say? It's my favorite movie!
