Claire has worked in jungle, desert, mountainous and Arctic maritime environments.

She has spent time working in Belize, Nepal, Morocco, Iceland, France, Italy, Switzerland, the Arctic, Tanzania and the Philippines as an expedition doctor. Her interest in remote medicine recently led her to the summit of Mt. Kilimanjaro. She has also completed La Ruta Maya, a 180mile canoe race across Belize.

Claire was the lead medic for the BBC documentary ‘Highest Classroom on Earth’ which saw her support a large group of students with special educational needs trekking in the Himalaya’s.

Claire has also worked in the Philippines on a resilience and capacity building project post-Typhoon Yolanda.

Whilst working at a high altitude rescue post in the Himalaya’s in Spring 2015, she was caught up in the 7.8M earthquake that struck Nepal, and along with a colleague joined Australian Himalayan Foundation’s relief team to deliver Aid and carry out a reconnaissance and needs assessment in a remote mountainous region of the Lower Solukhumbu.

After completing her medical degree and a BSc in Sports and Exercise Medicine, she went on to complete the Diploma in the Medical Care of Catastrophes (DMCC), and the Diploma in Tropical Medicine & Hygiene.

She has recently returned from the Arctic, where she was ship’s doctor on a Polar Expedition Cruise and tends to prefer cold climates to hot ones! She is also a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society.
