Clara Changxin Fang
I was born in Shanghai China in 1983 and immigrated to the United States in 1992. My passions are environment, poetry, and art.
Environment: I work with organizations and businesses to develop and implement intiatives that help them save money and improve their environmental performance. Most recently I worked with Swarthmore College and the City of Albany in New York on their greenhouse gas inventories and climate action plans. I completed a Master of Environmental Management at the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies. I write a green blog called Residence on Earth.
Poetry: I hold a a Master of Fine Arts from University of Utah in Creative Writing. I am seeking a publisher for my first poetry book, Garden of Transgressions, which explores issues of migration, desire, and encounters with the natural world. My book in progress, called Real and Imaginary Friends, explores the spectrum of relationships with peers. I have published widely in reputable literary journals. A list of my publications is available here.
Painting: I was a prolific artist during childhood and adolescence and won many awards. After a long hiatus during adulthood, I have returned to painting with a mature style. I enjoy painting still-lifes and portraits. You can view samples of my recent work here.
Photography is something I would like to pursue at a professional level. I do portraits, weddings, and travel photography. You can view samples here.
